Great knowledgeable tour guide. Was able to tour one of the cottages and underground tunnel. I enjoyed hearing about its vast history and recent repurpose.
Wow! What a great tour! Sean was our tour guy and his knowledge and love for the history of the place really made this a stellar experience.
It's a great tour You learn a lot. Mental health is not a new thing that's for sure. The architecture is over and above what you would think a mental institution would be. But it's all about calming the mind and soul I'm not going to say much more You need to take the tour. The video I placed is in the tunnel with the lights turned out You take a video in the dark deceiving find any orbs we didn't find any orbs I have found some before though.
So beautiful. We walked the grounds, and then went and visited the hippie tree! They have a QR code you can scan and do a little scavenger hunt, along with learning some history! Check it out and respect the grounds 🙏🏽❤️
Edit:
I went back for the tour, and I'm glad I did. I learned some interesting facts. There were 22 live births there the first year, and the staff adopted the babies!
Dr. Munson was a progressive thinker who believed beauty, sunshine and work is GOOD for the mind and body! Too bad too many people nowadays are caught up in their own little world with their computers and phones.
Pretty interesting place with some nice boutique shops. Can't wait to go back for an official tour.
We had a gift of 2 tours of the older parts of the compound. Our guide was outstanding. He knew the history of the hospital from it's beginning to the sad end. It really opened our eyes to to the treatment of mentally ill individuals, in the late 1809's through the 1980s.
Lots of history. Excellent tours. Did the architecture your and the spooky night tours.
The tour was great. Very neat place.
